Hi All,

I was originally booked on the March 31 tour but found out today that it's no longer available, so I moved to the tour that leaves London on April 14. I looked around and couldn't find an existing topic for this trip, so I figured I should start one.

I am really looking forward to this trip. It'll be my first time outside of North America. I live in Calgary, Canada and have traveled all around Canada and the USA, including a previous Contiki trip (Wild Western) in 2002. I had a blast on that trip and hope to have as much fun this time around.

I'm traveling solo, so I'm looking forward to meeting some new and interesting people. I'm 33, so I expect to be the senior citizen on the bus, but I'll do my best to keep up.

If you're traveling on this tour, please post here so we can all get to know each other a bit before the trip.

Brent Smiler

Just a little over 3 weeks until the trip leaves London. My personal countdown is now at 17 days until I leave Canada. If anyone else is joining this trip, come on in and introduce yourself.

Has everyone received their info package from Contiki yet? I still haven't. I'm going to call my travel agent tomorrow to see where it is.

What's everyone looking forward to the most on the trip? For me, it's either Berlin or Rome (or is it Paris, or Prague, or Venice, or..?).

Looking forward to a great trip and meeting some great people.

Hey Brent! Thanks for the invite. I am a little impaired when it comes to these internet communication things!! Where are you staying in London before the tour? I will be ariving April 11th early in the morning and am checking into St. Christopher's Village Hostel on borough high st. I think its near the London bridge and the Tate Modern. What are your plans for those days? We should meet up and see the sites so we are not too lonely! D

Hey Danielle! Hey Scott! (and Brent Smiler)
Just under two weeks! I'm leaving Winnipeg on the 12th and arriving in London on the 13th morning so hopefully nothing goes wrong and I'll be able to get there on schedule.
Take care!

Hey, it's great to hear from everyone. I'm into my final countdown, leaving Canada next Monday night. Two weeks from now, we'll be in Amsterdam.

Hi Danielle, I am staying at the Imperial Hotel. It's the one that's included for the first night of the tour, so I just added the extra days beforehand. I get into London on the morning of April 10.

I'm not sure what my plans are for those days. I want to see all (or as many as possible) of the tourist sights/sites (Buckingham, Westminster, Parliament, London Eye, British Museum). I also want to take a tour out to Stonehenge on one of the days (I've found a couple of companies that do day trips to Stonehenge, Bath, and Windsor Castle).

Here's my email address: getbak815@gmail.com

Drop me a line and we can try to figure things out.

Better late than never! I am 24 and from Toronto. I've never been to another continent, and I'm taking a risk and going solo. GETBACK: I have indeed been to Calgary though :-)
I was just warned by some other members not to take travellers cheques--is anyone else avoiding them? I will be in London at 8am on Friday April 13 and we cannot check in until 2pm...so if you see a tired Torontonin in the basement reading a book - come and chat with me - I'm Virginia!

Hey Virgina!
I'm the same boat as you, I think I'll be arriving in London about the same time (via Toronto as I'm from Winnipeg)so I'm going to have some time to kill until check in as well.
I'm not using Traveller's cheques as my source of money, but I am carrying a few for emergency. I heard you'd spend half of your free time just trying to find a place to cash them, let alone making sure you can cash them in at a good rate.
See ya!

I will only use the travellers cheques for back up.Thanks for the advice
So you will be on the same flight as me I am guessing? I leave at 19:50 on April 12 flight # 1098--is it the same?

Hey Virgina
My flighr from Toronto to London (heathrow) is AC 848 and departs and 8:15 pm and arrives at 8:35am so I think you may be getting in a little bit earlier than me.
How are you getting to the hotel from the airport? I think I'm going to take the tube.

Hello Vanessa. I actually get into London at 8:05am...so just half an hour before you. The Contiki travel pack suggests the tube, so I think that's what I am going to go with too. If I get lost, I will still have enough money for a cab....Are you coming by yourself as well?

Hey Virginia
Yep I'm travelling solo, it's a little scary because this is my first trip to Europe as well as my first trip alone. But it all adds to the excitement.
I pretty much have everything it's just a matter of getting all packed, a task that I'm not to keen on. Smiler

Hey Vanessa

Yes, packing is getting to me. Afraid of bringing too much or forgetting something...but I'm sure it's fine. What will you be wearing to the airport/Contiki basement? Just in case I'm feeling lonely and want to spot you and say hello. I will be wearing a red blazer and have a red backpack...brownish blonde hair past my shoulders...I'm getting SO excited!! So much left to do in so little time...but I'm sure we will get it together and if we forget anything, we'll make enough new friends to lend us some things (this is what my friend told me who did this tour last year) :-)
I wonder if Brent, Danielle and Scott will come back and post a message ? Goodbye for now
