We had a person on outr last tour I did to the states he was in his 40's but his wife was in her 30's contiki have aloop hole may of stopped since where if you are over the required age but travlling with wife, husband etc and they are in the required contiki bracket you can travel with contiki youd probably have to sign a waiver and it would be a case by case this may of changed since so dont quote me
oh well thats life. I was looking at Contiki as my wife did not want to tour Asia. I'll figure it out. I took a Contiki tour in 93 and loved it. thought i would check.
Hi All! I would like to know, about 37 as limit age for contiki, if there is something else to know, for example, is this person in his/her 37's and travelling alone, OBLIGED to have a single room and so to pay more money than other "young" people even though he/she would like to share the room and save alot of the money in this way? thanks!

My friend who I work with is 39 and he recently went on tour in NZ without any dramas at all. The Contiki crew said they can't refuse him because of discrimination?? They said to him that the 18-35 age bracket are just guidelines for who will be on the tour.
Turns out he was one of the most popular guys on trip and everyone was so glad he was on there!! When did the 37 year old age limit come in to play??
Hi ptooma! Unfortunately for me, it isn't so! because I'm 36 ( I'll be 37 on 28th July) and I'm going to book a trip (wild Western)and I have to say that contiki asked me 1600 euro (instead of 1155 euro, price of this tour!)and I'm obliged to stay in single room (this is why I have to pay so much) and not in twin room! The matter is that they don't explain to me the reason for this even though I travelled last year with contiki and I staied in twin room for whole trip and all went ok!!! I don't manage to understand why I have to stay in single room instead of sharing the room and to pay a lot of money......

Hi Bateup! Do you know if your friend was obliged to stay alone in the room? Thanks

Hey Carolina, i'm 36 and am doing two tours this year, Grand Southern and Canada and Rockies and I haven't been made to get a single room. My friend who is 37 decided to come on the same Southern tour as me and when he booked he didn't have to either. We just head to tell contiki that we had been on tours with them before and knew what it was like. Plus does the price of your trip include airfare? Cause to book from New Zealand it would cost 920 euro without airfare.

Hi Pervy! Probably when you and your friend booked the Southern they automatically made you togheter in the same room considering they could know you were friends so that you both paied a normal price, this means that ....did you both share the same room? Besides, like you, I told them I did Canada & Rockies last year and all went ok or better GREAT but unfortunately nothing changed, moreover, they answered me back that they ALLOW me to book Wild Western thias year even though I'm 2 years over their age bracket! The new price doesn't include the airfare. I accepted to book this trip any way because I have been thinking about the WW for a long time and I care for doing it a lot, but I would like to know why I have to stay in single room and pay more money.

The thing is we didn't book the trip together so contiki has no idea that we know each other. I did the Grand Northern a few years ago and there was a 37 year old who shared a room. I really think contiki should let you share, i'd get your travel agent to do there job and sort this out for you.
