i used to find that i brought everything, from toothpaste, hair gel, deodorant, contact lens solution, etc. but never really used it. so now i just don't bring any liquids to save myself the hassle of going through security. i don't know why people don't prepare before they reach security....i remove all metal and objects from my pocket and put it inside my bag so i don't have to use the trays. just put your bag on the xray and walk through, and you're done! hassle free. but back to liquids, if you really need to bring liquids then do so but prepare. the only thing i really need on a flight is toothpaste and contact lens solution. but you will find that airlines have toothpaste for you anyway. and contact lens solution, well, i just sleep in them. i flew from zurich back home to sydney with contact lens in and i was fine. ^ wow what an essay.

I hate the liquids rule, bit whatcha gonna do? I'll probably just step through the security and then by a bunch of stuff at the convenience store at the gate. Or I'll hit a pharmacy right when I get to Europe.

I usually only carry on lip balm, lip gloss, and hand moisturizer. I find that my hands get really dry using airline soap and if I don't have moisturizer, the tightness in my hands is all that I can think about. I typically don't carry on anything that I do not normally carry with me on a day-to-day basis in my purse. The rest of my liquids are always packed in my checked luggage, more for convience than size restrictions. I just hate having to carry a lot of stuff with me in the airport.

I also like taking hand sanitizer in my carry on. Airports and tube stations are covered in germs. I wonder if doing something so simple prevented me from getting Contiki cough on my last tour

I used to be a screening officer and for the question on aerosol you are allowed something that you put on your body like spray deodorant, but not air freshner, staticguard etc...and they still have to be under 100 ml. Don't bring Zypo lighter they are not allowed (at least in Canada) bring the cheap ones like Bic. and yes ladies...mascara IS a liquid.

Yup, you can take aerosols on board as long as they have a lid & are under 100ml - which brings me to my next point...goodluck trying to find an aerosol under 100ml! lol Actually, those little rexona aerosols would be perfect for the flight, you'd just need to also pack deodorant with your check in cos the little ones wouldn't be enough.
Ummm, so I'd take lip balm, toothpaste, mini aerosol deodorant, hand sanitiser & bottled water I think. Moisturiser maybe. You'd want to feel fresh, especially if you can't check into your hotel a soon as you land.
