Hey all

Was just wanting to know how strict contiki are on the luggage size and weight restrictions on the time out tours.

My suitcase is a couple of cm (1-3cm) larger here and there do you think I would be able to get away with that?

Hey Olivia

Contiki weighs your bag at the begginning of the tour and it has to be 20kg, if it's more you have to take stuff out, thats what they did to some people on my tour. Just make sure that you are under.

Also they don't measure your bag , i made sure that my bag was the correct size but when I got on tour, i had the smallest bag, there were bags that were the size of me Razzer So don't stress about the size.

Lol olivia, I think we must have the same suitcase. I measured mine and it was a couple of centimeters too long. It was thinner though.

These guys are right - size doesn't really matter (provided it looks "normal" and not like a minibus). Weight does. It must be under the 20kg mark.

You are allowed a main luggage bag to go under the bus as well as a hand luggage and a handbag for on the bus.

I've read that your hand luggage on the bus can't be over 5kg but you should be cool with a bag and handbag I'd imagine

Hi, I read in the Contiki Brochure that external metal frame backpacks are not allowed, I have one of those hardcase wheelie suitcases, does anyone know if that will be ok???
Also its measurements are 70x53x30 as apposed to the 73x50x25 required, any thoughts? The 27/08 Conitike Concept tour is in three weeks so I'll need to get different luggage if this wont suit

Hi Rigga

You can definetly have a hardcase wheelie bag, almost everyone on my tour had one, I would definetly recommend one as it keeps your clothes from getting squashed and creased.

Also don't worry about the size, contiki doesn't measure your bag!!!

Have fun on your tour Cool

Bear in mind hand luggage for the Contiki bus can't be the same size as hand luggage on a plane. There is no where to fit one of those mini suitcase size bags on the bus.

Take a day bag that you can put your passport, camera, jacket and water in and then, if you want, you could probably leave a SMALL backpack on the bus too. That'd be about it though.

If the bus is really full the backpack goes under you feet so make note that you could compromise your own seat space! LOL!

For my tour they didn't measure or weigh any bags, although some did have the heavy tag from the airport which means overweight fees were paid. They do have the right to weigh every bag, however you get a nice crew they may just let it slip.

Weight is strictly enforced for tours departing from London. Otherise, you probably won't see a weightscale anywhere. Travel light though - your back will thank you for it.
