Maybe this poll may alleviate some of those ... "Am I travelling alone?" questions that routinely pops up. My wager is that 2/3 are solo.

Here is the 2006 poll results of "How Many tours have you been on?"

I'm going solo, and even though it is going to be frightening, I think it will be fun, and help me gain some independence. Heaven knows I need some. I could have travelled with my friends, but they have different interests than me. So solo it is.

Heya Tuscan Traveller

Don't worry about travelling alone I just got back from the European Encounter trip which I did by myself and had an absolute blast!! Don't worry on my trip there were 5 of us girls by ourselves and we all became really good friends! You will have a great time by yourself, as you can do what you want rather than what someone else might want to do.

Have fun!! Smiler

Hey,

I am going solo for my first contiki tour in June 07. I know everybody says you will be fine but still I am excited and scared at the same time. It is the unknown that is scary and untill you have actually done it your self you won't be able to see that.

Cheers

you are probably going to find that posting this question here is going to give you a skewed resonse.

Ie, I suspect that a larger numbe of solo travelers are going to reading/post to these message boards than those going in groups.

Yes, you are probably correct, this is definitely unscientific in accuracy, and from my tours, the norm was about 2/3 solo.
Here are 2 Ultimate European demographics charts; one from
Steve G and another from Dave Challenger. Maybe I should also included the option that "solo, but leaving significant other at home ..."

Hi guys, I'm after some advice or maybe some stories or something similar.

Basically, I'm 22 and I would love to go travelling, I can not find anyone to go with me but I can go on my own so that is not a problem I suppose. But, one thing that is stopping me is the fact that I now have a career, quitting is not a problem I can do that but, it's finding another job when I get back with a similar salary. Has anyone else been in this situation?

Thank you for reading this,

Paul

Hi, Could someone please give an idea of how much drinking/partying goes on during the average Australia or New Zealand tour?

Also any recommendations for the Aussie Explorer or the Contrast Reef and Rock?

Jessie -AUSSIE EXPLORER!!

Its amazing and a few peeps who done reef and rock wish they done explorer - Both tours start at the same time and then the reef and rockers stay at the whitsundays to later fly to Alice Springs while the rest of the group continue north!! Aussie explorers go all the way to Cains etc and then fly to Alice which is where i saw the original reef and rockers who just finished their tour! So it as nice to see them again but they all said that they wished they had stayed with the group till cains before flying over.

Also with the Reef and Rock tour you dont any further north than Alice - so you miss Kakadu, Tennant creek, lots of crocs, giant ant hills and Darwin!!! Any questions feel free to email me - lil-lisa@hotmail.co.uk

Hope this helps! x

Hi Paul,
Yes I am in a similar situation as yourself. I am resigning from the company I have worked for 5 and half years to travel around Europe for 6 months. I strongly believe that travel broadens the mind and helps people grow!
As long as you have the qualifications and some experience, after returning rejuvinated from your holiday, you will surely find an equivalent or better job with the same or greater salary!
If travelling is something you have wanted to do for a long time don't put it off. Enjoy life!!!!
Cheers Tasos
