But, one thing that is stopping me is the fact that I now have a career, quitting is not a problem I can do that but, it's finding another job when I get back with a similar salary. Has anyone else been in this situation?

If you like your job, have you considered asking your employer if they permit a leave of absense to vacation?

Yeah, I don't think that they would do that, to be honest I'm not worried about going back to the same company, it's just the salary part that worries me!! Perhaps I may find a job that I would prefer to do whilst I was travelling? who knows?!?

I always travel alone, regardless if I'm leaving a significant other at home or not. I never go on any trips under a month in length though I suualyl travel to Europe for 3-5 months at a time every year. I'm going to move to most likely Austria or Italy this fall for a minimum of a year to work.

I prefer traveling alone. Always have. I mean, bring a friend is nice here and there but not for longer periods of times. Besides, my friends always say they'd love to come along but when it comes down to it, they aren't willing to make/save/spend the money. It doesn't matter too much, I like meeting new people. I feel if you travel with a buddy you're more likely to stick with them and not meet and get to know as many other people as your would alone.

Hi Paul,

I can soo relate to you! I was having trouble finding friends to travel with and i was on the verge to go on my own. Contiki on your own sounds pretty cool because really your not on your own it's a whole group!!! So i was convinced to do it on my own but then friends of mine caught the travel bug and decided to come along. So thats great but either way alone or with friends the experience (the main thing) will still be there and you will meet sooo many people.

Lastly 22 is still a young age. I am also in your position career orientated BUT don't let work or money rule you!! You will definately get a job when you get back! You have the experience and qualifications or else you would have that job in the first place. I believe travelling only adds to life experiences and the more you gain the more wise you become... so time off like this is essential for personal development. Futuristically (i'm guessing) you will want to settle down, children, morgage etc and when will you ever experince this type of adventure (alone) with all those priorities and expenses in your life???

I SAY GO dude and have a ball life is too short to umm and arrg GO GO GO!!! When you come back FRESH clean slate pitch your goals higher and u definately will find a job and a more paying one at that! LIFE IS ALL ABOUT RISKS I SAY!!!

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll give it a year or so to save money and to really think it through so then I'm a bit older and have a bit more knowledge!

I'm going with my sister. We're starting out doing a camping tour of Europe and then going on our main portion of our trip - a working holiday in the UK.

Hi

I'm from Puerto Rico (Ricky Martin & Miss Universe land), 33 yrs this is my first time in Coniki. European Discovery - October 7 until 20. I'm so excited by now. As many friends told me from this side of the world there's only few or nobody aboard. I hope at least one because I'm not fully bilingual. CoolIf someone will travel by this date please let me know.

I'll be going solo this year for the Tuscany and Southern Ireland, and even if it doesn't go well, which I doubt, because all the experiences sound awesome. I'll probably go to Scotland and Great Britain next year, solo as well.

The Aussie Explorer is quite expensive [especially
when you add airfare]. Most of my friends are not willing to spend the money. I have no problem traveling alone. As stated by others, you will meet tons of new people on the trip [its easy to make friends when everyone is having the time of their life]
