i went by myself to london/france. yes, i wasn't sure about this. i'm not in a relationship and really didn't have any friends that could go or that i honestly wanted to be around for 10 days straight. lol. so i just went alone. ok, let's be honest, you feel like a loser at first when you're booking the trip. however, don't let that stop you. it's an amazing time and as long as you have some level of social skills and you're not a mute, you should be able to make some really good friends on the trip. plus, you get to do what YOU want to do and you don't have to worry about placating to a friend or making sure someone else is having a good time. There were a lot of other solo people on the trip with me. the first day i did feel a bit awkward adn wondered if i had made the right decision. however, that went away and i ended up having a good time. do it. also, when you do something like this alone it really builds up your confidence that you can do anything. now i feel like i can travel to other parts of the world solo if i have to or want to and I don't need a sidekick or wing man to go with me.

WOW! Its suprising how many people actually travel solo. I read in the brochure it was "almost half" of the people that travel solo. On here it says 69%. This makes me feel more at ease about doing so.

Hey Karl,

69% did reply as solo, but of those travelling with friends, not all those friends in that group answer the polls so the ratios are not weighted correctly. Thus in reality, the solo numbers are probably a little lower. Probably around 50%.

I wouldnt go on a Contiki tour with a partner if I had one because I dont think they are supposed to be a romantic holiday away for two. If I have any couples on my tour that will be my first quection - Why lol...

I also wouldnt travel with friends - Because I want to keep them :-)

Aussie Girl - i completely agree with you! i love my friends but i could not sit on a bus with them for 30 days straight! and i wouldn't risk the amount of money i was spending to go on my dream holiday for one my friends to make me do things i didn't want to!

i am planning on travelling solo leaving my longterm boyfriend at home... im not at all worried about being by myself but a few ppl have said to me contiki trips r a meat-maarket and other comments similar which make me wonder how many ppl r planning to go on contiki just to get laid..? im up for partying n having a good time but dont want any problems regarding going any further then that.
