Hey every1,

I'm getting really excited now, before we know it we'll be partying overseas.  I'm flying with Thai airways and i depart melbourne on the 14th Aug. 

About the money issue... im taking my ATM card and a credit card (for in case i get stuck).

I'm going to take my mobile phone with me.  i've set up international roaming, and i'll just take my voice mail off and not answer any calls so i don't rack up an enormous bill! I'm just going to SMS!

Well contiki is going to be the start of one massive trip.  I'm going to be travelling for 5 months over Europe, and i can't wait!  Our tour group looks awesome.. heaps of young, fun ppl! I've got a working holiday visa for the UK, so im planning on getting working when the money runs out lol!

I'm keen to catch up for drinks on the nite before we leave... i look forward to meeting every1

My name is James, iam from Australia, country australia really closest main city Melbourne and going to head off and turn up othe rside of world byself! Which iam looking forward to but not thinking about moment because ive never really just taken off on own to see what happens!



I leave Melbourne on the 16th aug, and get to london early in morning on the 17th, stay night before tour at royal national and night after.

then have almost a week in london staying at yha backpackers.

And i also stay in kula lumpa for 3 nights on way home to have a look.

I can't even begin to imagine what it's going to feel like to walk out of there and know I'm not going back for 9 weeks..... YAY!!
It's 9.30 PM Thurday Aussie time which means in EXACTLY one week from now we will all be meeting each other after the Contiki briefing AHHHHH!! There have been 15 people on the board but there are about 49 on the tour. So many more people to meet.

I haven't actually posted since i started this thread ages ago. I'm leaving next Monday evening, the 14th for London, but i must admit i'm a little apprehensive after today's news about the thwarted terrorist attack at Heathrow.. Obviously im not going to let it bother me but for those of us that havent left yet, how are you all feeling?

Anyway, im hoping that at least some of you are up for some London sightseeing next week, as i think it would be rather boring doing it on my own. If anyone is getting in to London around Tuesday next week let me know.

Dont worry about the problems at the airports at the mo. 21 arrests have been made and they have stepped up secuirty. I would recommend checking to see if you are allowed hand luggage tho, as they have been telling everyone today they are not allowed, instead they get given a clear plastic bag to put passports wallets etc in, everythin else needs to be checked in.

I think the main flights that are effected are those between the UK and USA so those from Oz shouldnt be effected.

Everythin should be back to normal by next week but be prepared for delays etc.

www.bbc.co.uk is a british web site that u can search to get updates on whats happening on the news section.

Dont worry about flyin you will be fine - just concentrate on the fun u will be havin in europe.

Hi all, yes its a bit of a bummer about the flight at the moment i fly out on the 16th so hopefuly for me the airport will quiet down a little from now. is there anyone one the tour who is flying out of sydney on the 16th?
i'll be glad to get over there and catch up with you at the royal the night before the tour.

my flight into london was sweet as everyone was allowed hand luggage and getting in through the airport took about 30mins so it wasnt too bad and i arried on saturday morning the people who cant take hand luagged are people travelling from the uk and also flights going to and from the usa. london is still on high alert was walking arond the streets of london there were heaps of police. well my frend said it was more than usal anyway. Welcome to our tour group danny and Jocey cant wait to meet everyone.
