Since i haven't seen a thread for the August 18th start (apart from a random post made back in March) i'll start a new one.

My name's Chris, im 21 and from Melbourne, Australia. Seeing as though the overwhelming majority of people on here were lucky enough to secure a spot on either the 29th August and 1st September starts for Oktoberfest, i thought id at least represent those of us relagated to August 18!

Also, hopefully we can collectively put some minds to rest regarding the possibility of an empty coach! I doubt i'll be alone with at least some of us probably not booking their tours until late.

Anticipating a strong reply... i hope Frowner

Hey,

Thanks for replying, i was beginning to think i was going to be part of the first solo contiki tour ever conducted!

Yes its fairly obvious that we missed out on the oktoberfest tours because we booked too late, but i was told that those particular tours were booked out over two months ago. I think i was more concerned that i missed out on that tour because i would have been guaranteed a tour full of young people.

Having said that, i think we'll have no problem, and i bet it will be close to full by the time we head off. All i was really hoping for was at least a few people around my age and not a coach full of 30-35 year olds... No offence to them of course, but...well.... you know what i mean!

Im flying to London on the 14th August and getting in on the 15th at around midday. Staying at the Royal National, twin share with a stranger for the few nights before the tour... that will be fun.

Again, thanks for replying - i was getting worried there for a sec

haha yer people around our age would be awesome but i dont mind the older ones as they are more smart and can learn a bit from them. at leas they arnt like parent old old! hhahahaha.
iv herd that contiki is always a really good time so im not to worried about that i just hope i make it there in one peice and have anough spending money!

Hi guys!

My name is Joanne and I'm also doing this tour with my two female friends Carly
and Kirsten, all Aussie and all 23. After the tour we are going to spend at
week on Hydra and a week on Santorini recovering and getting nice tans before
we have to go home : )  We have been planning and saving for this trip
FOREVER and with exactly 40 sleeps to go until we fly out coming on here and
reading posts from people who are actually going on the trip we will be on has
just made it so much more REAL!!!!!!! Yay!!!

We are leaving Aus Monday 14th August flying Royal Bruni and will be staying at
the Royal National for the 3 nights before we start the tour. As we will miss
out on being in London over the weekend we hope to go to a London club or two
on the Thursday night so if anyone is game let me know : ) Or at least we can
have a drink or two. It would be great to get to know some ppl before we meet
up in person and will just make it that much more exciting!

Joe xoxo>>

Hi Everyone!

I just got confirmation for my trip so it looks as though I'll be joining you all.  I will be travelling solo so its nice to chat here to get to know who's going before we actually leave.  I just turned 25 and from Toronto, Canada, it looks as though I'm the only Canadian on the tour so far, but its cool to have a mix of people from all over the world.  I'm really excited but I know I still have sooo much to do before I leave. I think I'll be staying at the Royal National on the 17th but I haven't booked my flight yet so I could be there a day or two before that as well. So I'm definitely up for drinks or hanging out before we head off on the tour. I'll also be going back to London with the bus after Amsterdam and staying the night there again.. Is anyone else doing this?  After that, I'm heading to Scotland and Ireland to visit some friends before flying home.  I don't know how I'm going to pack for this long either..haha it'll be a challenge. We're gonna have a Blast on this trip!!!  :)

My email address is jads12@hotmail.com and I have msn using the same address.

Hey everyone,

I'll be staying in the Royal National the night before the tour (17th Aug). I think we have a welcome meeting around 7pm so maybe we could all meet in the bar afterwards.

Jen not sure if you have planned how to get to Scotland yet, but if you are planning to get a train up i would book in advance as you will get cheeper fares.
www.thetrainline.co.uk even if no cheap fares show on the website i would email or phone them as it may be that the cheap fares have not been released yet. This advice goes also to anyone who is planning on travelling around England before or after the tour.

I will also be getting the bus back to London and stayin the night in the hotel, then ill be heading back up north home to Liverpool on the Saturday.

If neone has n e questions about England Ill do my best to answer them.

Im gettng so excited now! - 6 weeks today = my last day at work - yay!!!!!

Hello,

I'll be staying at the Royal National the night before and after the tour! Im counting down the days and am sooo excited.

After the tour finishes i'll be spending about 3 1/2 weeks travelling through the UK (ireland is a must). before flying home on the 14Oct.

This message board looks to be filling up, and i lot of people cant wait!!! Smiler

So i have a question about the weather over there around the time the tour is on, whats the temp like at this time?
Thanx

Clinton

Hey Clinton,

England is unpredictable. Over the last few years we have had nice Septembers with warm weather however this cannot be relied upon.

Take this week for instance, it has been close to 30 degrees all week then today its 20 ish. England doesnt have constant weather we have bursts of sunshine that last a few days.

I would bring an umbrella as it is bound to rain at least once while u r here, and i would bring some long trousers and jumpers just incase - espec in Oct.

However dont worry about the weather -we r used to the climate here and there is still lots of things to do regardless of the weather.

My advice is to pack sensibly, pack some warm stuff for England (not as warm as the rest of Europe) and the northern parts of europe and some cool stuff for the southern parts such as greece - it will be hot there! Remember you can always buy clothes along the weather so dont stress!!

6 weeks to go!!!
