Read the README/FAQ at the top of the European Advice section. Specifically the 2nd paragraph.

Thanks mod for your helpful reply. Funny that i have already searched for european impressions & impression on the the search engine and came across a couple of vague posts. Have also searched on contiki cafe and spent 3 hours looking it up on google. I managed to find one blog from 2005 that didn't go to brussels!!! So again i ask if anyone out there has been recently and has a detailed blog out there on the www could you please let me know.

The unique thing about the Impressions tour is that it is the only multi country tour that visits Brussels. From what I've seen on TV, it's nice.

Otherwise the rest of the tour will probably be identical to any other Superior/Timeout tour. Infact, your reverse tour is almost identical to the Panorama tour which I took in 2005 except for Corfu Vienna and Rome and one night in Amsterdam. Look at my travelogue to see what those cities have to offer. And as mentioned before ... look at other travelogues that have similar itineraries.

So whether you are the Panorama tour or Impressions tour, they both go to Lucern for 2 nights and do exactly the same thing (same sights, tours, optionals). Same for Bordeaux, Florence ... etc.

Georgiegirl we are doin the 13th sept tour. Only 141 days to go yay!!! Specific info is pretty thin from people who have done this trip.

Vic, I have read your travelogue before and i have read it again. It is quite helpful, thanks. I do have a couple of question though, Can you ditch the activities in certain countries easily? I don't want to go to see about diamonds or cheese or clogs in amsterdam nor the glockenspiel in munich ( bring on the beer!!) nor glass blowing or lace making in vienna. I guess if thery are in the middle of nowhere u have no choice but otherwise i want to go and do other things. Finally i have posted before about wanting to go to rome from florence (not a good idea won't be doing it) I don't have time after tour to go to rome but want to see the colosseum. Now there is one at verona. Would it possible to get up bright n early and duck over to verona from venice (50 min train ride) and do a expresso tour and be back to meet up with everyone to continue with the "half day free to explore"? Ahh this is why i want to speak to other contiki-ites from this tour..................

Yes ... you can ditch anything you want - unless its an activity enroute from one city to another city.

I don't want to go to see about diamonds or cheese or clogs in amsterdam nor the glockenspiel in munich ( bring on the beer!!) nor glass blowing or lace making in vienna.

You can skip the diamonds.
Cheese and clogs are on the way to hotel so yer kinda stuck. Glockenspiel is part of the walking tour so you can indeed skip that and head straight to the Hofbräuhaus beer hall. I went made a beeline for the beerhall Smiler

Glass blowing and lace making can be skipped too ... but the Glass Blowing is very short and interesting.

The only possible way you *might* be able to go to Verona is skipping the Venice tour altogether. I do not recommend this. Venice is an all-day affair. Personally, I enjoyed Venice much more than Verona. The Verona Colisseum is much smaller ... perhaps 1/4 the size. Walking over all the mini bridges in Venice is cool and some of the passages are tiny. You really get lost in there.

Ahh this is why i want to speak to other contiki-ites from this tour..................

You may wanna post the same question on the general advice forum - but I suspect you'll get similar answer. Another option is sending a PM to ppl on the meeting place board who have already done this tour.

Does any one know the name of the store that the diamond exhibition is at? Would it be Gassan Diamonds?

Thanks,

Alex
