I will be on the Impressions tour August 5. My boyfriend and I, both from New York, will be on the trip, as well as a few other couples I met on facebook. You should check out the contiki group on facebook if you are a user. Have you travelled with Contiki before? This is my first time but I can't wait!! Looking forward to meeting you!

When are you guys arriving at London? I will be there early morning on the 6th Aug and was wondering how to spend my day? So far i have two ideas, 1) To go to Madame Tussauds museum! 2) Have heard of a day long city bus tour of London.

Was wondering if anyone has more suggestions!

im glad to see people started coming on the forum, no one was responding for the longest time, L G and i were getting worries lol..

I havent checked the facebook contiki yet, i hadnt considered that, ill go on tonight and see what people are saying!

ive done one contiki before in New Zealand and it was a blast. im doing the 20 day Europe then i have a week in London and then im doing a 10 day great Britain.

im arriving on the 4th i believe, ill double check the arrival but i think if were all in town early we should met up for a drink or do the London bus tour!

I totally share the sentiment, good to see some (Internet savvy) people in this forum now. I like the sound of the words drink, blast, excited and fun in your mail………..

We sure could catch up beforehand, I am cool with the London bus tour or drinks. I’m arriving in London on the 6th morning around 07.30 am. If all goes well I should be at Russel Square by 09.00 am., good time to start the day! The London bus tour gives you a ticket with 24hrs validity!

Should we look at organizing a time/date to all meet up before the tour? I'll be arriving in London on the 4th and am up for any/all ideas of things to see and do before we head off to Brussels...wow, can't believe I'm actually saying these words still haha.

im getting in at 9:55 am, do we want to met up and have a pint or do a london tour the day of? pranav suggested russel square, i clearly am not from london so i dont know the location but wikipdia says its on the tube line, we can maybe all meet there at noon and start our trip. let me know what you guys think, ill look into how and were we get london tour bus tickets and ill let us know cost and get us all directions from the airport.

Since the London Tour Bus idea seems to be gathering steam, here is some more dope on it:

These tours are typically day long tours where they take you in a double decker bus with an open roof and a guide or commentary. You will get to see all the major sights and sounds of London and can also get off the bus where ever you want and hop on to the next bus. It’s a good, economical way of getting introduced to London.

There are 5 start points to the tour, we’ll have to figure which one is the closest to Russell Square (Russell Square is the closest Tube Station to Royal National Hotel) I’m assuming we are all staying there)

Start Point 1 - PICCADILLY CIRCUS
Start Point 2 - TRAFALGAR SQUARE
Start Point 3 - EMBANKMENT STATION
Start Point 4 - VICTORIA & GROSVENOR GARDENS
Start Point 5 - MARBLE ARCH

The cost of the ticket is around GBP 20-22

I think we need to quickly fix the date, time and place for people to reach there comfortably.

So I've been comparing maps, and it looks as though Start Point 2 is the closest to us. It's south of Russell Square, and closest to the British Museum (which Imperial hotels website map shows is close by). Now the map given on the website provided by Pranav makes it look not too far, however google map as other ideas!! lol

Oh man I haven't checked this board in a while and I've been missing out! I'm also arriving early morning on Aug 6th. You guys post the plan (you seem to be doing a great job figuring out the details so I'll leave it to you =) ) and I'll be there! Can't believe it's only a few days awayyy

Since there is hardly any time left we got to decide fast on the plan.........

Plan A (I wanna explore London) – We all meet at Russell Square (It’s the tube station near RN) at 11:00am on the 6th August. We can travel together from Russell Square to Trafalgar Square (Identified by Katelyn as the nearest start point), buy are bus tickets and aim at hopping on to a bus by 12:00pm

Plan B (I love drinking) – We do our thing during the day and catch up for a drink in the evening around 20:00pm. Suggested venue: London Pub (I think its in or near RN)

Plan C (Avoid plans, I’m on holiday) – We meet in the morning or take it as it comes.

Ok people now lets vote for the above plans or give suggestions so we all know what the scene is:
