i'm a 22yo aussie girl going on the european horizon tour aug 23 - sep 01.  would be great to hear from anyone doing this tour at the same time??

Are you staying at the Royal National the night before the tour?

I'll be in London a couple of weeks before the tour, travelling around, checking some other countries out that are close by.

I'm doing the tour by myself, a little nervous but know that it will be awesome fun!!

Yah, I am having a hard time trying to decide between this tour on the same dates as you guys, or the Aegean Classic starting on the 26th of Aug.

Like you, I arrive in London earlier, I get there on the morning of the 15th.. then I was thinking of hitting Holland, Germany, Belgium.. So, maybe a tour of the Greek Islands on a Cruise ship may be a good way to finish up my trip..

I wouldn't worry about Travelling alone.. especially if there are a lot of Canadians around.. :-)

anyways.. if you are looking for people to go out for a Pint with before you start your tour.. let me know...

Yes I will be staying in the Royal National the night before. I'll be there that morning to roam around London with my friend, and then as everyone already knows the tour leaves the next day. I'm pretty excited. Amsterdam should be interesting... I've heard many a story about it. I can't wait to go clubbing and see all the crazy stuff.

I've heard that you have to have a coffee and a cookie in Amsterdam but that's about it!  Think we'll have to wait and see about that ha ha!

I'm staying at the hotel too, don't want to miss the bus in the morning, although I'm sure I'll be so excited I won't be able to sleep the night before!  Def looking forward to the drinking, dancing, sights and meeting lots of people!

Jas, that pint sounds pretty good to me, I'm getting to London on the 8th Aug, my brother and I head over to Ireland for five days, also going over to Amsterdam for a weekend and possibly Germany before the tour so should have a fair idea of travelling by then!

I haven't really read up on the Greek Island tours, but have heard a lot about them, they sound awesome!

I have heard that Canadians are very friendly and that there a lot of them on these tours so glad if I'm doing it alone there are a few around!!

Looks like my brother has decided to come along with me for the first 10 days of my trip.. so it will be good to have the company.. he is older, but he still likes to have fun..

Anyways.. we are planning to head to Amsterdam for the week-end of Aug 18th to 21st... if you are going to be there around then let me know.. I am thinking we will stay at "The Flying Pig" hostel downtown.. apparently this is the nicest one of the bunch, and it may cost a little more.. but who cares right.. we are on vacation.. but I looked at their web-site, and it looks like it is worth the coin...

Yah.. so if you guys end up in Amsterdam around those dates and you and your brother are looking for some drinking buddies.. let me know..

My brother and I are going to Amsterdam the same weekend as you and your brother!  He booked our tickets last week so we are all set to go!  We have booked the ferry over there but because it's going to take nearly 8 hrs we have deciced to fly back on the Sunday rather than get the ferry again!

My brother has a friend who lives in Amsterdam so we're lucky that we'll get to stay with her.

So yeah we could catch up for a drink for sure!

I so wish that I was leaving right now!  Three months from today, bring it on!!!

You need to pre-book a Ferry?.. I didn't know that..

ah well.. we are planning to fly over there anyways.. I think we are going to use www.easyjet.com really cheap, and you get where you are going a lot sooner.

Yah, we were looking at things to do in Amsterdam, I think we will fly there on the 17th.. stay two nights at the Flying Pig Downtown, and then on the 19th.. rent some bikes, and ride out to the Flying Pig Beach Hostel.. spend the rest of the day and night on the beach.. ride back to Amsterdam on the 20th.. and then I am not sure what we are going to do after that.. I am thinking we may take the train to Berlin or Hamburg.. my German friends are telling me Hamburg is a lot of fun...

Anyways, maybe we can all hook up at a Pub somewhere for the night of the 19th... drop me and e-mail if you like  zimm77@hotmail.com

Hi Jason,

Not sure if you actually have to book the ferry but because I'll be doing already a whole lot of flying, we thought that we would do something different by going on that.

Yeah I heard that Easy Jet and Ryan Air are really cheap airlines over there, I think I'll be using www.ryanair.com when I go over to Germany, like you say it's super cheap and Easy Jet don't go to Frankfurt which is where I need to go.

The biking riding and beach in Amsterdam sound unreal, not sure what we will be doing there yet but I'm sure we'll come up with some ideas!

We leave Amsterdam on the 20th and I start my contiki on the 23rd for 10 days, then have a weekend in London and then I head back home, the whole thing is going to fly!

Yeah well we'll have to let each other know what our plans are for the weekend in Amsterdam and catch up for a drink!  I really need to start organising some things because three months will fly around!

Yah, in Amsterdam we will get there on the 17th, stay the Thurs, Fri. nights downtown.. found out that the hostel provides a free shuttle that takes you out to the beach.. so we are going to hop on that in the morning, spend the day at the beach.. stay at the beach hostel the Saturday, Sunday nights.. I think we are going to rent bikes on the Sunday and you can bike around the countryside checking out the Wind Mills, and beautiful scenary... Then we head back into Amsterdam on the Monday, and then I think we will head over to Hamburg after that.. I think there are three of us now.. found someone else that wants to tag along with us.. :-)

But yah. if you are in Amsterdam the night of the 18th.. maybe we could all meet up at the same bar or something..

Good name, my name's Eryn too (note the spelling difference however!).  I'm a 24 year old Canadian girl, travelling by myself on the August 23 trip.  I'm staying at the hotel the night before (I arrive in London at 1:30pm I think?).  I'll be travelling around the UK after the tour, then heading down to Rome.

I'm sooooooooo excited for this trip, I'm ready to party my way around Europe!

Sounds like we are going to all have an awesome time together, I'm really hanging out to go now and still a while off yet, oh well something to look forward to and to get me through the work day!

Seems as though there are quite a few people travelling alone, which doesn't make me feel so nervous!

Those how are staying the night at the hotel we should all def catch up that night for a beer or something!!

I just can't wait for this, I'm so excited!!

Are people taking back packs or suitcases on the tour?  I'm trying to get myself all organised so I don't have to worry about that side of it when it gets closer.

I've got a friend who went on a similar tour but for a bit longer and she had the best time, shes' been telling me all about it, sounds like I'll never want to go home!

Seems wherever I go, I always meet another person with my name, hehe.  I'm staying at the hotel the night before as well, and I;m totally down for having a pint (or 2..or 3...) that night.  My flight gets into London at 1:30pm.  Someone on the Europe advice message board posted directions to the hotel from Heathrow, so looks like I'll have little adventure when i get there!

I'm bringing a suitcase...it says they're easier to pack in the bus, and besides, I don't have backpack!

I can't wait to go, I'm sooooooo excited.  evryone at my travel agent said i will have a blast!  I'm not worried about travelling alone, I used to work on a cruise ship, where I went down by myself not knowing anyone!

Anyways, can't wait to meet you and the other travel buddies!!!
