I'm meeting up with a friend for this tour in late September of 2009. I'm so excited! It will be my first trip outside of North America, as well as my first solo flight anywhere.

I've been to the Dominican Republic, but never to Europe. Petra where are you from? I'm doing the highlights tour in August.

When I began researching for my trip (I will be going Sept 2009) I looked into the travelogues. Reading the experiences of past travelers totally sold me on the traveling out of the US alone and actually helped me big time on deciding which tour to take.

For me I based my decision on the days I could get off from work and the amount of money I could save. I also wanted to see as much as possible since I don't know when I will have the opportunity of traveling to Europe again. That is why the European Highlights tour is the right one for me.

There is a great topic on the Travel Talk forum (What you'd wish you had known). Since the Contiki site is pretty complete on letting you know the basics that you should take on your trip (packing lists, luggage reqs, etc) getting feedback from past travelers and seeing what they missed out while on tour has been a good read.

ok so the european highlights 09 i think sounds like what i want to do. how do i get started? do i go through a seperate travel agent or through contiki? im so new to this i feel like a dummy! thanks for your help! by the way i tried adding you on facebook its just pending request! its really all going to come down to how quickly i can save i think now!

Heather...don't feel like a dummy! LOL. I am not using my travel agent for this trip, I'm booking it directly through contiki. I find this easier because if you have any questions about your booking or want to make any changes and you go through a travel agent, the agent has to call contiki. Even if it's your name on the booking contiki will not talk to you at all about the booking. I find it easier to be able to handle everything on my own. Hey Everyone!!! I'm been looking into this tour for a while, just waiting for the dates to come out? I'll probabaly be going end of June
