Hey everyone...for those who have gone on the 35 day camping trip, or for those about to go. How much money do you suggest will you need to enjoy yourself. I was thinking of saving up to about 1200 pounds which is about $4000 Aus dollars.

Whats the cost of living and drinks and price for doing certain activities.

All advice will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
whitie

Hey,

I have talked to a number my friends that have been previous years and the figure that has been coiming up alot is around $4000 - $5000 australian.  The contiki people told me about $100 a day so thats $3500 but that wasnt including buying alcohol and souvenir shopping....

I worked out that if you do most of the extra activites it will cost a total of around $700 - $800 (sorry about all the australian dollar figures, im not very good with conversion rates!!!)

So basically it depends on how much you drink and how many presents you have to buy!!!  And of course how many of the extra activities you want to do..

Just out of curiosity what date tour are you going on?  I am going on the one starting 3rd of august. So i may see you around...

Catch ya,
Kate

Hey

Thanks for letting us know, I miss calculated and 1200 pounds will be roughly $3000 Aus which puts me way behind the $4000 at least i need. So that $100 Aus a day doesnt even include alcohol. What are you spending money on then if it doesnt include alcohol or souvenir shopping.

Knowing me, i'd be drinking alot so thats where most of my budget is going.

I start on the 24th August so unfortunatley won't be seeing you, I hope you have a great time though...for me i need to find a way to make an extra $1000 by August 24th, it's gona be tricky

Seeya later,
Ben

Hey,

You're welcome first off. I think the money contiki was talking about was for meals that aren't included in the meal package as well as basic things such as snacks along the way...it may even include the extra activites but im really not sure, sorry i cant be of more help.

My friend went last year and he said alot of his money went into alcohol too! He laughed at me coz i am a cheap drunk so i wont have to budget as much for that!!!! Its my shopping addiction thats going to cost me!!!

I hope you enjoy yourself too, good luck saving up the money in time, im sure you will be fine.....

Cheers,
Kate
