Just returned in August from 7 weeks camping Europe.
Any questions...ask away.
Just a tad bit of advice is that it's not all it's cracked out to be. If you enjoy a one of a kind, cultural experience while travelling this tour is DEFINETLEY NOT for you.
Just came back from a 21 day camping & I feel the same way. It was more geared for partying than seeing Europe I felt - don't get me wrong I expected that, just not every single night. A bit disappointed.
The tents were brand new, high quality - so were the mattresses, albeit a little on the thin side. I had bruised all over from getting in & out of the tents, haha. I was happy to have quite a few cabin upgrades along the way, would DEFINATELY do concept next time.
Hey guys, I done a 46 days contiki tour at the start of this year - camping, and it's the best thing i've ever done! Ok so my tent broke after 2 weeks (they were trialing new tents!) and my air matress died after about 2 days... hehe... but it added to the adventure. The people and mates you meet along the way are brilliant and i still keep in contact with them now. I think i was lucky to have a great tour manager, driver and cook and also a great group of people to travel with, so yeah, u may get unfortunate and have a dodgy tour. Hopefully u'll be lucky enough to have an awesome one like me though. U definately travel around alot and don't expect the aussie weather, but still the experiences you get you may never get the chance to do again. As for the partying... yep that happens, but it is up to you. If you don't want to go to the pub in the evening, then go and explore somewhere else and meet up with everyone later! There are 46ish people on your tour and i would guess that you would get along with some of them and have similar interests! Oh... and don't be worried about travelling by yourself, a lot of people are in the same boat (well they were on my tour), and in tents your basically living with them for 7 weeks... so you get to know them really well! Anywho... I've blabbed enough! I can't guarentee you'll have the time of your life... but i did! so i guess it is a bit of a case of hit or miss... happy travelling!
