Hey Vianna,

I was looking at jumping ona  cruise after i finish my land contiki in mid-late 06 (still deciding which one...). I too was curious to see what ppl thought of a cruise contiki.....not sure if a few drinks and a ship mix.....or maybe they do =)

Vianna, presume your not going all that way and just getting on the cruise, doing any other contiki's?

cheers

Hi Tommo,

I'm still not sure the choice is either the Panorama tour

or Aegean Classic and Mediterranean highlights. Depends on

what I can afford by June next year.

What about you? What other tours are you thinking of doing?

Keep in touch

Hey Vianna,

I've been looking at the longer contiki's....one has been the Panorama, another is the Adventurer. Ultimately I plan (and i hope to!!!) go on a contiki around 30 days, and meet ppl there that want to go and travel for another month or two, and backpack with them. Just don't see the point of going all the way to euro and only spending a month there.

I'd love to do two tours, but in the end it may be better to see some of euro on an organised tour, and then spend a week 'here' and another 'there'...depending on the atmosphere of the place etc..........

...but in the end, i haven't made any plans just yet....so that will probably all change =)

speak soon,

tom

Hi Tommo,

Do you know my first choice is the Panorama

I mean its goes every where I want to see.

My plan is to fly to London around start of June

spend a few days there. Then do the Panorama tour.

Then travel through Italy and Greece as I have family and friends there.

I know what you mean about only spending a month.

I dont have much choice I only have 7-8 weeks holiday.

I havnt made any bookings or anything yet but I'm

going to soon so I can start paying it off.

Well, speak to you soon

Let me know your plans.....

Vianna

Hi,

I'm going around the same time as you guys, I'm from Canada. My plans are to start with the Berlin, Prauge Vienna tour at the start of June. Then I think I will make my way through Italy, and head to Greece for one of the cruises. Either this one, or the Golden Fleece. Have either of you heard much about the cruises? I am just wondering about details such as what time we need to be back on the ship in the evenings, and what kind of entertainment the ship has.

Hope to hear from you,

Ali

Hey greetings all it's Ally here.  I will be doing the London-Athens Sep10-30 with 3 other friends.  When that tour ends I will just continue on with my best friend Traci.  At the moment it is a toss-up between the Aegean Classic (Oct1-6), the Mykonos Resort or Egypt and the Nile as an add-on.  Currently I am leaning towards the Aegean Classic.  I was curious as to whether anyone has heard much about it or of the quality of the cruiseliner.  AND IS ANYBODY GOING IN OCTOBER???  lol    Also, does anybody have a clue as to a rough estimate of what the 'optional extras' would cost?  It will be the end of my tour and wanted to make sure that I would have enough money for it.

This is Allykat signing off

Hi

I did the London to Athens tour in June/July 01 and then followed this up 2 days later with the Agean Classic cruise. Great combination.

The cruise ship is huge and was of great standard. I know they have changed companies but pretty sure it is run the same. There was about 850 people on the boat and there was 60 of us from contiki. I had a friend fly in from Canada who was working there for a year and was on her way to London to do her european tour. We had a ball. We spent one day doing a Mycenae tour and then went to the Acropolis and Hard Rock Cafe etc.

The cruise was so much fun. The meals were fantastic. The best food of the whole holiday was on the ship. There was one night we all got a bit dressed up and that was fun.

The optionals I only did 2 as I was at the end of my holiday. I did the Palace of Knossos tour which was the whole reason i did the cruise to start with. I studied 3 unit ancient history at school and had been dying to see the greek ruins, so seeing Mycenae and Knossos were my main objectives. It was brilliant and I am so glad I saw it. The other optional I did was the visit to Oia and Thira on Santorini. So worth it. The optionals can be a bit pricey. We did not want to do the mykonos one as you are able to walk around and see so much on your own. We didnt do the one to ephesus and I wish i had but it just cost way too much money and besides we didnt want to get up early and we saw Kusadasi instead. The other optional offered was on Rhodes and we spent the day going to the beach etc and it is so easy to get around on your own. There was the optional to see St John the baptist etc but I was so sick with Asthma and the start on pneumonia that i could not handle the climb.

Overall the Agean Classic is so worth the money and it was just so much fun.

Hey thanks so much Rebecca for your input.  I now know that I will be doing the Aegean Cruise.  What was Kusadasi like anyway?  Is it possible to do both the tour to ephesus and Kusadasi?  I ask a lot of questions huh  lol   I too have been dying to see the greek ruins.  I wonder if they do any toga parties - heaps of fun.  I remember dressing up once as Artemis in a Classical Studies dinner........just gotta remember about all of those safety pins when sitting down  lmao

Hi I just book my trip for Sept 9th to the 16th! I am very excited about it!!  But I was wondering too if anyone has gone on it and what the ship was like, and all that jazz... Also. Are they going to weigh our suitcases?? I know they didn't when I went on the Eastern Road but they did when I left from London on the European Magic.  Since we aren't going to be on the bus but on the cruise ship will it matter as much???
