Hiya

My boyfriend and I just booked this tour departing on the 30th Aug, but we'll be joining the tour in Paris because we're spending a week there before hand. I'm 24 and my bf is 31 and we're from West Oz Smiler

I'm soooo excited! Bring on OktoberFest!

Erin.

Hiyas,
Im just wondering how many people are doing the Greek Island Cruise vs staying in Mykonos... I really can't decide... I'm so keen to see the other islands but I also want to party it up on an island!
Any advice?

Cheers,
Erin.

Hi Erin,

My boyfriend and I decided to do the Greek Island cruising option.
Only because it's our 1st time in Europe so we thought we'd make the most of it and see as much of it as possible, that way if we really like one place we can go back another time and just visit that one area. Smiler
I have heard off other people that have gone to Europe the party atmosphere of Mykonos is amazing.

WhooHoo!! Just booked this tour. I chose the Mykonos option, I heard good things about Mykonos.
I'm 31 and traveling solo from Los Angeles, US. Anyone arriving earlier or staying later to explore?

Hiyas

I just spoke to a friend who did the cruise option and I have now chosen to do the Mykonos option... although I'm trying to figure out how to do a day trip to Santorini!?

Here's his advice;

The greek island cruise was good, but i think that had more to do with an awesome contiki group rather than the cruise itself. We definately did not spend enough time on the islands. You cover two ports a day, so you generally dock at the first port around 7 in the morning and depart around 11.30 that morning and then port at the second island around 3 or 4 pm but need to be back on the ship around 9pm.

My understanding of the cruise before i booked was that we would be able to enjoy the night life of the islands however there was just no time. Another problem was, by this stage contiki had taken alot out of everybody, and with staying up quite late, drinking and dancing most nights, i missed both morning stop overs due to sleep ins and massive hangovers.

The ship itself, was ok, but nothing flash. the pool on board was laughable and the 'activites' they offered generally catered for the over 50 market. We spent all of our days just sunbathing and drinking (you pre purchase a drinks package for like 80 euro which covers most of your alcohol needs for the duration of your cruise)

As far as recommending a four day stop over in Myaknos, i can say Mykanos was absolutely beautiful, with what appeared to be lots of little streets and stores to explore. With only a four hour stop over it was hard to tell if there would be enough to keep you occupied for the four days. I have been told that the night life on the island of Mykanos is amazing but obviously can't say much as we didnt experience it.

But overall if it wasn't for the group of people in the contiki, i would have really regretted actually doing the cruise.
