egypt and the nile - best contiki tour i've ever done.
Egypt is so out of this world and i have not heard a bad comment on the country or the tour.
Sherif the tour guide is amazing and the most caring, knowledged person you will meet.
I was hesitant on going there (especially being a single blonde female), after all the stories i'd heard about the place. But i would advise anyone who is slightly considering visiting egypt to DO IT! you will fall in love. I went to greece turkey and eastern europe on the same trip and they just didnt compare!

Im glad to hear that, I booked this tour for november 14 and I cant wait, Im very excited about it. Im traveling by myself so Im concernec about security. Did you ride a camel and if you did how much was it? you did all the extra tours? what about the food? I will be arriving to Cairo a day before the tour and will stay a day after the tour so I can rest and walk around. Any tips or advise would be great.

The main reason why this tour is excellent is due to the fact that the company utilizes a sub-agent- Spring tours and also enthusiastic professional Egyptologist as a TM.

Its a holiday like experience with adventure,culture , real high end accomodation rather than a full on fast paced pub crawl party tour which is typically encountered on European circuits.

The Egyptian tour is essentially a premium tour with accomodation standards on par with first class companies like Insight, with age capping and relatively affordable cost being another bonus.

Sherif is great. I was just there in September during Ramadan and even though he wasn't eating during the day, and had to pray etc, you would never have known it. He was always cheerful, yelling out 'Wakey Wakey Contiki' and Yullah Yullah Habibi every time the bus stopped LOL
The cruise on MS Carmen was BRILLANT and a much needed restful break in my travels.
Food is really great and definitely do the camel ride, not very expensive and so much fun! It also gives the best view of the pyramids so that you can take a pic of all five in one shot.
If you go and have a waiter named Rafat on the cruise, please tell him that the September Contiki group still love him like the brother/cousin/best friend that he was to us all

My friend and I will be traveling December 11-20....and can't wait!! I have been hesitant to book sooner because of my concern for safety. Thanks for all your posts ensuring we will have a great time! I'm a single blonde female, like Missy, and worried about how I will be treated. Hopefully all will be ok! One question I did have...was getting your visa at the airport any trouble? I just want to be sure there isn't any unforseen problems when we arrive at the airport!
