I was wondering if the tour dates on the site all are confirmed? And if not, when are they usually confirmed?

I'm just worried that I'll book the flights so far ahead and the tour gets cancelled or something.

Not all of the departures are confirmed... the best way to know is just ask the reservation agent when you ring up to book...
Most are usually guaranteed within about 6 weeks of departure (sometimes earlier, depending on how many people book)
If you're worried about flights, you can always try booking ones that allow changes or even cancellation (although these usually cost more)...
But the best option is to get a travel insurance that offers "default of supplier" coverage... which basically means that if Contiki cancels a tour that wasn't guaranteed when you booked it for ANY REASON the insurance company covers any charges for changes you need to make to your flights (although you usually pay a bit extra for that coverage).
