Hi -
My friend and I just got our documents and are very excited about the trip to Egypt this December. I have a couple of questions... 1) Thinking about what to pack based on the weather. I think its jeans and long sleeves weather and hear that it can get cold. Anyone know what would be the most appropriate for the days? 2) Also, we are staying an additional day at the end of the trip and thinking of going to Alexandria. Anyone have any suggestions on a tour group/company we can book a day trip through? 3) Abu Simbel? Is it worth the $236. Sounds kind of steep but don't want to miss out on it if its truly amazing. Anyone planning on it? Looking forward to meeting my fellow travelers!!! Thanks!!! |

You're going in the winter season which is the best time of the year to go. Daytime should be around 25C but the nights will almost certainly be cold as there is virtually no cloud cover.
For Alexandria its best to decide what you would like to see there and ask the tour manager to organise a driver. He will know the correct rate(local price) rather than approach a company which will overprice thier tours. Abu Simbel is the highlight of any tour to Egypt and although its expensive its certainly worthwhile. Its actually more impressive than the Pyramids at the Giza Plateau. I would say nearly 100% of all tour participants on this tour would take this option. If you don't it will be a bit boring as the cruise ship is at anchor and there's not really much to do. Check the photos of Abu Simbel out. http://contiki.com.au/people/7b98fd5baa4d9687c11a4ee38777e054 |

On this tour you would spend most of your time on the nile cruise. There's plenty of time and opportunity to recharge batteries. Just make sure you have the correct adaptors for Egypt.
