Hi all, I just wanted to hear from some people that went. I am totally up for this trip but my buddy seems to think it's not safe. I not it's not the most calm political environment but those of you that have been on this trip, did you feel safe or that you had to look over your shoulder all the time?
Thanks, Chris |

I was thinking the same thing however I am still going. According to the Australian Traveller guide it says "High degree of caution" and in Sinia "Reconsider your need to travel". With that taken into account I think the main reason is that it boarders those countries that are in conflict. Is it safe, well everyone thought London was safe. I am taking the risk and going now before one day I can never go.

There is nothing really to worry about when you are there. Just use common sense when you go to the bazaar and to all the different pyramids/temples. For example, Beside the Sphinx there is the mumification building, when walking around that area if there is a guy that comes up to you and says that he is a "Watcher" don't go anywhere with him. I had an ordeal with one and when I got back to the Contiki bus I asked Sherif (hes the tour guide, greatest guide ever) he said that there was no such thing a "Watchers" so you really just have to use common sense or travel with the group, I tend to wander. If you would like to see pics I have some on the internet at http://community.webshots.com/user/DarrylTurner?vhost=community
