Hi Hi everyone,
I'm going to Egypt April 6, and now I see stuff about Egypt everywhere. One thing that has come up is head scarves. Anyone (especially the gals) know if I should invest in one, what kind and where do I get one if I even really need one. Random people who have not been are telling me I need one. Just wondering what the truth is from someone who has gone. Thanks, -jackie |

Hi JackieD
I went on the Egypt and the Nile tour in November and in no way are you required to wear a head scarve. The people you have talked to are full of it. The only time that anything is required is when you are in the mosque in Cairo on the second last day and even then it is only a green robe if the girls are showing too much skin. Here is a link to my pics if your interested: http://community.webshots.com/user/DarrylTurner Enjoy!! |

I have heard that some females (usually blonds) have chosen to wear one because the men can get a little "friendly" about touching girls hair.

Hi there,
I think the main thing to be concerned of is to avoid food poisoning and the heat. Consider bringing powdered Gatorade and also aciduphilus based pills like travelan and also boosting your immunity prior to the trip. Check out www.travelan.com Hope this helps. |

By the way there is a comprehensive review of this trip in the reviews section. There's even 1 in Hoch Deutsch( high German) that has pros and cons of this trip . Luckily I can read it.

Hi Jackie,
A friend and I did this trip in Sept 2005, and there's no way you need a head scarf! We both have very fair skin, I have long red hair, and she has long blonde hair. I'll admit that we got a lot of attention from the men in Egypt, but never to the point when we felt like we needed to wear a scarf! Basically if you're a women you are going to get harassed at some point in the trip (probably daily)!!! Try to dress somewhat conservativly (i.e. no short skirts, belly shirts, etc) and you should be okay. You could also consider wearing a 'wedding' ring. I you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them (lady_bly@hotmail.com). The trip is absolutly amazing and a lot of fun! Erin |
