hello I am going on the June 28th-July 5th tour. I was told that i could get my visa at the airport( by a contiki rep) but also about a month later, was informed that if it took to long to get my visa the rep would not wait. I do not want to go in a cab by myself. has anyone dealt with the lines for the visa, or a rep leaving?????

For Australian passport holders the Visa is obtained at the point of entry.Timewise it should not take too long , but if there are lots of flights arriving , its hard to predict how fast they can clear visitors.

I would't be surprised if the rep did leave if it was an extremely long wait. But if that were to happen its not a total nightmare.

Its ok to take a taxi provided that you avoid the taxi touts and use the official stands.

Sometimes its better to use what they call the limosine service , which may cost a little more, but you get a modern vehicle with a professional driver. Its still very affordable when compared to Australia's cost.

The normal taxis are run by real cowboys hooning around in their really old french cars. Almost like the French connection vintage 70's.That's the common taxi.

Don't worry about the wait to get the visa. The terminal you'll enter is only for your plane, there is a window where you slap $15 US on the counter (or any denomination --it's a money exchange) and they give you two stamps to put in your passport. They don't look at you or your passport, it's just a tax of sorts. From when you get off the bus that takes you to the terminal to where you are walking to the bus will take about 20 minutes.

There is a limo company that is really professional in Egypt named Echo limo services. They have branches all over the country.
This company also uses a very reputable company -Spring Tours as their agent . Spring tours is very well known and is the preferred agent for many other travel companies.
