Hi everyone,
I was wondering how much in traveler's checks, Egyptian Pounds I should bring with. Can I get cash at money machines or banks? Anyone who can help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, jackie |

I wouldn't use traveler's checks, it will be difficult to exchange them. Instead, bring about $300 US cash, and exchange it at the bank next to the Oasis Hotel. ATM's are frequently out of money, so are unreliable. However there are enough around that you'll find one that works, just keep in mind to have a decent buffer. It's a lot easier to put everything on your credit card, and worry about it when you get back (every hotel has a tab, and you can pay for the optionals with a credit card.)
I spent about $1000 total for the whole vacation. ~$200 souveniers ~$400 optionals ~$100 first day before tour started ~$200 food/drinks ~$100 misc Our tour partied and drank a lot so I spent a good deal on drinks. |

Hmmm...i brought 550USD.
Spent USD 215 on the optionals USD 200 changed to Egyptian pounds Returned with USD 100 and with no souvenirs to show for the trip. Agree with Ed, Just bring a small quantity of Cash and you can use a Credit Card for the rest or hit a nearby ATM if you need cash. |

I brought travelers cheques in case of emergency and ended up using them for my optionals. I agree with ed about buffer money and the ATM's. I probably also spent about the same amount on the tour as he did.
The only thing is that you can't use credit cards at the markets but you could use either egyptian pounds or USD (I think euros too). |
