i want to go inside the pyramids.i am not flying all the way to egypt and not going inside the pyramids.can ANYONE confirm that i will go inside the pyramids,it is a dream of mine.thank you.

I'd suggest emailing Contiki directly to find out. I'm not good with confined spaces, but from what I've heard they let in a few hundred people every day so it's best to be there in the morning. Not every pyramid is open all of the time so you wouldn't be able to get specific, but I know you can get into them.

I'd suggest either going a couple of days early or staying a while after if you don't want to run the risk of not having time on your tour. You should definitely be able to get in at some stage though.

The first organized thing you do on Day 2 is climb up the middle pyramid Khafre. I recommend arriving a day earlier than the trip schedules and spend an extra day exploring the pyramids. That's what I did, and glad I did--I felt the tour did not spend enough time there. Advice if you do go-- bring a camera that can fit in your pocket (you aren't supposed to bring one in, but aside from the main ticket taker, there is noone else inside.) take pictures inside (although there really isn't anything inside). Second -- As long as the line isn't ridiculously long behind you, take your time letting people come down the shaft (same way up as down) if you go slow and plan it right by the time you get in there, your tour will be the only ones in it, and you'll be able to get a more enjoyable experience (taking a few pictures, hopping in the granite sarcophagus, etc). It just worked out that way for us.
It's rather anti-climactic once inside, but like you said, if I'm going all the way to Egypt I'm gonna climb inside a damn pyramid!

Finally, if you do arrive a day earlier, don't go on camel rides, the tour will probably go on an unofficial excursion around the pyramids (we did).

That travelogue was written on the tour that I did. Pretty much sums up everything you'll do, minus drunken shenanigan's (thankfully she didn't write about that!)

Although, I heard you take an overnight train back to Cairo from Luxor now, which is a shame- Luxor was a good time.

The great Pyramid, I believe, is always open, but only issues a limited number of tickets per day (though it seemed like they just kept letting people in). Our TM got us in early so we could get tickets. Then one of the other two pyramids is open, they alternate every year or so. I found that the tombs at the Valley of the Kings were cooler then the pyramid.

l just returned from the Eygpt contiki tour and l can confirm that we did indeed get to climb inside the Great pyramid-it was an awesome experiance. The have two sessions for buying tickets to go inside the pyramid, and they usually let about 150 people in each session. Dont worry, the tour guide will ensure that you guys get a ticket.

Yeah you definitely go in the pyramids, but I was too scared to. They're hot and damp and really, really small. But the people who went in said it was ok, but they only really went in so they could tell people they did it. Enjoy!

I'm excited to get inside the Pyramids. Really just to say that I did it. Some of you were saying you managed to take pictures inside? I don't know if I would risk it but it sounds like that would be pretty cool.
