Hi Guys,
I'll be flying in 2 days early for my tour due to lack of seat availability on the flights into Cairo. Just wondering if anyone has had free time there and are able to recommend anything to do while waiting for the tour to commence? |

i have a friend who suggested Alexandrea. I'm coming in a day early and am considering doing it the day that the tour starts with dinner, but I'm not sure if there is really enough time to do it before the dinner that night since it's a bit of a drive out there.

Hey!
I was also thinking about going on a day tour to Alexandria on the day the tour starts. I would have to leave Cairo at about 7.30 am and wouldn't get back untill 7.30 - 8pm. But i think it would be worth it. I was looking at Explore Holidays and they seem to have a decent itinery. You go to the Greco Roman museum, Pompey's Pillar, the Catacombs and the Ampitheatre as well as a chance to go to the library. You should both check it out.. Were you planning on doing an organised day tour or just heading up to Alexandria on your own? |

I've been so busy with work that I haven't had time to check out day tours to other places or even what's within Cairo itself.
Guess will have to get there and check out what there is to do and if any fellow travellers are already there. |

I was thinking of looking at the hotel to see what day tours were available the night I got in. If nothing interested me then I would just maybe go to the markets in Cairo or something. I've only just begun doing my research for the trip, so my plan may change.
here is a site that offers different day tours in Cairo and day trips to and from Cairo, should give you some ideas of the options... http://www.memphistours.com/Sightseeing/Cairo.php This message has been edited. I looked into a day trip to Alexandria, it's about a 3 hour taxi ride there, and renting the driver all day would cost about 300 egp ($50 US.) While I really would love to visit the city, having only 4 or 5 hours there is not enough time to really experience it. Instead I was thinking of taking it easy around Cairo, maybe spend more time at the pyramids. I'd really like to see the city of the dead.

Hi there,
actually ROD from Pulau Tekong/Ubin SAF fellas and also Hokkien ( Ah Beng type) / Malay Hassan type locals. Are you Singporean born? You do not seem to understand Hokkien at all.Loo eh heau kong / teah hokkien boh? If you're of Malay, Indian, Eurasian heritage/ background that perfectly understandable. Just a friendly heads up: Kawan , jika anda orang melayu, makanan di Egypt di kedai bandar sangat barhaya. Or are you working there on foreign secondment and have mixed only with the foreign community? Any way have a great trip.Selamat jalan kawan This message has been edited. Last edited by: Praha, |

Eh Gryphon, My Singlish Kilat or Chia Lat Ah?
Maybe after a few Tiger beers and Hennesy XO it becomes more fluent though. Must togok in Clark quey,Zouk ah when I'm in Singapura. On a serious note the toilets are definately not like those at Scotts/Takashimaya/OG/Robinson or any of the retailers on Orchard Rd. And the local food stalls are not like Lau pat sat but imagine something like over in J.B in the back streets though. All the best pal. |
