Hey

I am booked on the July 2nd experience too. I'm 22 from Auckland. I've been to europe before but only france, germany and england and not for very long. I'm gonna be in London from 27th June (staying in backpackers) and heading off to Turkey after the contiki for a bit of backpacking around.

Hey again. yeh nat we were thinking of going to turkey as well, to the islands. originally i wanted to go greek islands but we heard that the turkish islands are heaps nicer and not as crowded or expensive. Not sure whether we're still going though. I don't know how much money I'll have after ive paid for everything and we've done the contiki tour hehe. It's gotta last me 3 weeks but.
How much do you think we need per day? ive heard ppl say from $40 aud to like $200 aud. but a lot on the tour is already paid for by contiki so im a bit confused. Any1 got any clues?

I talked to a travel agent who used to be a contiki guide and she said to take at least NZ $100 per day for the contiki. I've had 4 friends do contikis and they spent as much on spending as the contiki (so if the contiki was $3000 they spent another $3000 on top of that - this is in NZ $). It does depend on how much you shop and drink though, I'm definately on a budget. Turkey is meant to be really cheap, its just getting there that's expensive. I'm flying to Croatia after our contiki and catching buses/trains to istanbul. Check out fezbus.com for turkey bus passes. check out hostelworld.com for hostels there.
Its hard to plan it all its so expensive aye- I've spent so much $ already now I'm stressing!

Hey

Yeah will be good to get a bit of summer in the middle of our winter!

No I'm on a really tight budget so I think I'll stay at a backpackers before hand like ascot or piccadilly, I think the royal national is more expensive aye?

Nat

I'm arriving very early in the morning on 27 June.

It sucks cos I have a really good family friend living in London but he's away on holdiay June/ JUly! So I'm planning on finding a cheap hostel and seeing a bit of the city, I know someone in Manchester but its an ex boyfriend so that may be a last resort haha

When do you get there?

I get there very early morning 24th June... I'm staying with my great uncle initially in Essex, but I am planning on catching up with a good mate in Portsmith for a couple of days too... Then I'll more than likely head into the city and see the sights for a few days before the tour - maybe we should catch up before the tour starts and see the city together? Smiler
