Hey all!!
I'm trying to figure out what to pack from this tour. If anyone has any good tips on what to pack/not to pack (particularly people who did this tour or similar tours before) please share!! - I'm thinking of NOT bringing a sleeping bag (maybe bring a a sheet instead) is a sleeping bag realy necessary (there's no camping)? do the cabin in the tour provide a blanket and pillow? and sheets? - are there places on the tour to charge mt camera and cell-phone? do I need adapters for europe? - how much money do you think I should bring? is it better to bring cash or credit card - how much clothes would you bring - is there anything else that's important to bring? what do you'all think? |

haha mate u got it pretty wrong.. u need a sleeping bag, coz ur staying in cabins mostly ( btw i just of the tour that eneded on the 8th sept) theres just sheets and a pillow so bring a sleepign bag, bring lotsa shirts and some formal stuff for the casino in monaco and the optional dinners, im terms of money id say bout 50 eu a day should do if ur trying to budjet, u could even do it with less, but the optionals if ur doing all of them is gona cost u bout 350 euro. paragliding is expensive so think twice if want to spend 130 eu for 8 mins in the air, it is good tho. do whitewater and do all the dinners aswell as the jungfrau coz ul kick urself if u dont. umm washing is expensive in some palces so bring a few changes in clothes and bring a jumper and jacket it gets -20 ontop of the jungfrau its ****ing cold and very high up even in summer. oh and dont buy **** in piza its fake and **** lol.
welöl what else do u wanna know? |

thanks for the tips mate,
since you were there already, can you help me with a few more things: - are there lots of internet spots near the cabin for e-mails and digital cameras n stuff? - what a blanket do instead of a sleeping bag? - do they give you towlels and soap, shaving gel and stuff like that? - what optionals should I not take? the dinners are pretty expensive, are they worth it? how about the cabaret in paris? and the space disco in florence? and the contiki t-shirts? - do they make you pay in advance for optionals or can you join an optional on the last minute? - what did you do on you free time (was there alot?) should I bring a travel book for spare time or do they give you maps and stuff on tour? - did you bring all the money in cash of are there ATM's? should I get swiss francs in advance? |

There are lots of places to access the internet but the problem is that there is usually only one or two computers - with up to 4 buses in one spot, it can be a long wait. there are a lot of internet cafes in the cities which you are better off making time to visit because they are a lot cheaper too...
i would definitely take a sleeping bag as they dont count as part of your 20kg limit and you can just chuck em under the bus seperate to your bag. they definitely WONT give you towels, soap etc... you have are responsible for all that sort of stuff... you have to remember that this is a concept tour and most of the places you stay are very basic! I did all of the optionals except the bike ride in Austria... most of the people that did it, said it was great but really hard work and were buggered afterwards... you generally pay in advance for the optionals because they have to phone ahead and book numbers. there are some that you can decide on the day, but not many. your tour manager will let you know anyway. spare time? haha! i think in the whole 20days i had half a day spare and that was in Rome and only because my friend and i chose to return to the accomodation and spend the afternoon in the pool trying to reduce the swelling on our ankles. the rest of the trip was spent exploring the cities, on the bus, partying or just generally socialising with tourmates. but yes, your tour manager will give you a map of each city as you are approaching it and they will also give you a bit of a spiel on whats good and the best spots... i only took a couple of hundred in cash and then used ATM's and credit card - there are plenty of places to get cash out and your tour manager will always let you know if you are going somewhere that requires cash in advance (due to lack of ATMs etc..) oh and your optionals have to be paid for in cash.. dont worry about swiss francs in advance - there are plenty of places to withdraw them. hope that helps!! |

i would recommend to bring 2 towels, dont really seem to dry real well in some places or you dont have time to dry them and they do get a bit smelly half dry in your bag while your travelling. need a adapter for europe, i got a cheap one off ebay that does every country (uk,europe, australia,NZ etc) i had a day free in switzerland because i didnt go up the mountain, stayed and did washing but pretty full on otherwise. As for money, its up to you, i spent a bit but partied everynight, ate what i wanted too, just didnt try and budget just went and had a good time. i think if you wanna enjoy your experience dont worry about money, just have fun. a lot of the tourist places charge around 10 euro to get in. much sure you carry small change as well because the charge to go to the toilet, normally around 50 cents. you can buy soaps and stuff at most of the camping grounds, they nearly all have general stores. you get maps with key attractions marked on them for each city you visit so dont worry about books or anything, the tour managers are very helpful. there is ATMS everywhere, i brought 200 euro with me just so i didnt have to go looking for a atm straight away.
anything else you would like to know feel free to ask, only finished this tour on the 23rd sept |
