Hey, is anyone else doing this tour? I'm all booked and paid for but I'm a bit concerned as it isn't one of the definite departures. The travel agent said it was one of the most popular tours so will most likely go ahead but if it doesn't, it will completely throw my travel plans.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Hi,

I'm so glad I've finally met someone else doing my tour... I was getting a little worried.

When I booked my trip, the tour was non-guaranteed departure but it was so popular that they changed it to definite YAY!!

This is my first tour and infact, my first time in Europe so I cant wait. I arrive in London on the 16th and leave on tour the next day (talk about rushing it) but I am doing some travelling after. I am resting for 5 days in London and then going to Ibiza for 4 days with a friend. After that, if I still have money, I am going to do the Greek Islands and Croatia. I am basing myself in London for a working holiday after that so I will be travelling around in bits and pieces over the next couple of years. How about you?

Atleast we can be jetlagged together!!

I don't know anyone who's done this tour but I know heaps who have done other Contiki's and loved it. Mind you, when I told them I was going on Contiki they all laughed at me so I'm not sure whether that's a good or bad thing. I think it's because of the amount of partying done on tour. I really don't think I'll be able to drink 20 days straight. I'll have to somehow find a balance between partying and sightseeing.

There are plenty of people on this site that have done this tour but I haven't spoken to any of them. The general gist from what I've read is that it's a great tour and a good length.

Have you booked into a shared room at Royal National?

One of my good friends from school did this exact tour about 2 years ago i think and she loved it!! she also went solo and said it was awesome because you meet and get to know so many new people.

I've definately heard about the amount of partying on contiki tours also, lol, but I'm in the same boat as you there...i'm gonna want to find a balance as well between the two. I do love to go out and party but i know i'm gonna wanna sightsee a whole bunch as well cause thats what i'm looking forward to alot since i've never been to europe.

i'm not sure if i'm booked into a shared room at royal national...i do recall my travel agent saying i'd be sharing with another person or something about that there are no single rooms?? i'm not too sure so i'm gonna have to check on that. i figure it'd be better to share anyway since i'm sure they'd put you with someone on your tour so you're able to meet at least one person before you leave the next day.

are u planning on going to see a bit of london the day you get into london before the tour???....i guess it depends on what time it is and the fact you're staying after the tour...i'm def gonna try to get out and see a bit, depending on the jet-lag factor...haha

A friend is picking me up from the airport at 6am and it's her birthday so I'll spend the day with her trying to make up the fact that I dragged her out of bed on her special day!! Not quite sure what we'll be doing but I figure I'll be living in London for the next 12 months so I'll have plenty of time to see the sights. I'm staying at the Royal National that night in a shared room. I requested to be put with someone from my tour so I wont be a complete loner on the first day.

What's you real name? I'm assuming it isn't leafsgirl... or I could be wrong?!

Hey there....my real name is Jess actually....i just have always used that screen-name "leafsgirl" so i decided to use it again. though now that i think about it i might change it so ppl know my name is jess, lol.
thats so awesome that you're friend is picking you up from the airport. i'm not sure what my plans are yet, i have a friend in london but we still have to figure out if they'll be around to hang out that day when i get in etc..
i'm also staying in the royal national the night of the day i get there....i cant remember if i signed up for a double or single room, i still need to check on that one. i actually just got back from a week in Cancun, mexico for a graduation trip so now i need to get back on top of all my "to do" lists, lol.
actually, on my flight back from mexico last nite i met a girl who'd been on the 'european experience' trip in the past. so that was really awesome to talk to her....she seriously only had positive things to say which was excellent to hear for sure!! i know its like 2 months away but i'm getting reallly excited already for the trip since its my frist time in europe!

Hey!

Just adding to your conversation.

I am also taking this trip. I am 24 from Toronto (Jess... I PM'd you to see where in Canada you're from). Ended up deciding to travel alone when no one else had the money to do it, so glad to see that there are others who are coming alone.

Just wanted to say hi Smiler

There we go! I was getting a little worried too with the board inaction over this trip. I'll be flying into london on the 15th and will be just about ready to hit up the sites and a pub or two. Well I?m a 23 year old recently graduated student in Sonoma County California. I work as a Disc Jockey in Nor Cal, which takes me all over for weddings, bars, Clubs, etc. I'm flying solo for the trip so I'm hoping to hook up with some chill people before I get there. Its never a bad thing to have a friendly face in the crowd even if you havent actually met them before dont ya think?

I agree, it's a relief to have at least spoken to people from the same tour. Unfortunately, I don't arrive in London until the day before we leave so I wont have time to catch up with anyone but I guess we will all meet the night before at the briefing. Just out of interest, are you all taking a back pack or suitcase? And what size is it? I am moving to London after the tour for atleast a year and I'm having trouble getting my head around the idea of packing my whole life into one little suitcase.

great to meet another person on this trip!! i definately agree too its great to have spoken to people before the tour....just to be a little familiar with some of the people you're going with.

i'm pretty sure i'm taking a suitcase but i couldnt tell you the size of it, i'll have to get back to you on that. most of the people i've talked to at home who have gone on contiki trips have taken a suitcase, i'm not sure if that helps you with ur decision at all leah?

Well I plan on extending my stay after the trip and doing some extra exploring so I'm bringing a backpacking backpack it can hold 5600 cubic inches. I understand that they frown on backpacks but after talking to my travel agent I found out that as long as we stay below 30 kilos we're good.
I'm flying into london on the 15th so I'll have an extra day there, looks like me and mitch might hook up to socialize. When are you two flying in?
